Obamanation
It pissed me off Tuesday night to read all the FB statuses (or stati … I hate seeing Anglicized versions of Latin plurals… haha) that popped up during the State of the Union Speech which said things like, “I refuse to watch the speech. I don’t care what Obama says. I don’t feel like he’s my president, anyway.”
Really?!
Are we that biased, immoderate, racist, and otherwise closed-minded to be incapable of even listening to “the other side” in gentlemanly fashion?
Full disclosure #1:
I didn’t watch Obama’s speech either. It had nothing to do with his politics; I happened to have people at my house at the time and didn’t see the point of interrupting their lives or our visit to watch a political speech. At the ripe old age of 34, I’ve heard enough political rhetoric from both parties to last a lifetime. Give me the bullet-point list and let me know when you’ve obtained peace in the Middle East. *coughs*Full disclosure #2:
I’m not happy with the economic stimulus plan as it currently stands. I don’t really understand the powerful forces of negative economics that are sucking down our jobs and money like a big sink drain. I *do* know that Americans have been spending well beyond their means for a few decades now, and we had this coming. Creating billions of dollars that currently don’t exist makes me nervous. That said, the cranky and mean-spirited attitude radiating from angry Christians toward our current President is appalling to me.
Like it or not, folks, Obama IS “your President” until 2012.
Hate his policies? Fine. Rest in the checks-and-balances system of American government.
Obama is neither a savior nor the devil incarnate. Stop acting like he is.I get so tired of political hyperbole…..
